Temaki Sushi
Temaki are cone-shaped hand rolls traditionally eaten at the sushi counter as quickly as the sushi chef can produce them. They are also a perfect party piece. Invite your friends to make their own – all you need to do is prepare the ingredients and show them how. Any maki filling is suitable for temaki.
Ingredients:
- 10 pcs. FUDO Roasted Sushi Nori Seaweed Sheets
- 500 g FUDO Sushi Rice
- 65 ml KIKKOMAN Sushi Rice Vinegar
- 550 ml Water
- Various fillings of choice (fish, cucumber, avocado, fried egg, roe, Philadelphia cream cheese, Japanese mayonnaise, etc.)
For serving:
Preparation:
- Cut the Nori sheet exactly in half so that each half forms a rectangular piece. Place the first sheet shiny side down on the work surface. Shape 50g of prepared sushi rice into a circle and place it on the left side of the sheet. Place 2–3 grains of rice in the lower right corner of the sheet to seal the temaki later.
- Add a small amount of wasabi paste in the center of the rice circle.
- Place the chosen filling diagonally across the rice and wasabi so that the filling extends beyond the upper left corner of the Nori sheet.
- Lift the lower left corner of the Nori sheet and fold it over the filling, rolling the Temaki into a cone shape.
- Use the rice grains placed in the lower right corner earlier to seal the Nori sheet.
